Events
- Youth socials are held the first and third Friday of every month from 3:30 to 5 p.m. These are a wonderful way for kids to reconnect. Here, they can share life experiences with one another in a safe environment.
- Snow tubing is a fun winter activity for the youth. This is a simple way to show Speak Out Team (SOT) members appreciation for making a difference within the child welfare system.
- Massachusetts Approach to Partnerships in Parenting (MAPP) training sessions are offered throughout the year. Classes are available in both English and Spanish. Prospective foster and adoptive parents are taught the skills needed to have successful parent-child relationships. They also get to meet senior SOT members as well as current foster and adoptive parents. Class attendees may ask questions and voice their fears or concerns.
- The Foster Parents Appreciation Event is an annual banquet given by DSS to recognize foster parents for their hard work and continued support.

- SOT now has representation within the Assessment & Action Planning Work Group, a DSS committee that works on bringing policies up to date.
- SOT recently became a member of the BU Home for Little Wanderers' Task Force on "Aging Out."
- The DSS-Foster Parent Retention Committee welcomes SOT representation.
